Road Resurfacing Bids Under Advisement
Road resurfacing continues across the area, and so does the bidding process for companies to get the projects.
The Muskingum County Commissioners received eight bids Monday for four different projects. After several brief meetings announcing the bids, the commissioners took all of them under advisement. Now, the county engineer’s office will review all of the bids.
“They review the numbers and make sure everything is in order with their cost of them, their tonnage and so forth,” said Sheila Samson, Community Development Director for Muskingum County. “Make sure there’s no errors of number of materials.”
The commissioners accepted bids for the resurfacing of two streets in the Village of Philo and also for one in both Cass and Licking Townships. The county has a total estimated cost of $271,228 for the projects. If the bids are accepted, paving could start soon.
“I would say probably within the next 30 to 60 days, Samson said.”
Birkhimer Asphalt entered a bid for all four projects. The Shelly Company bid for both the Cass and Licking Township projects, and Shelly & Sands bid for both projects in Philo.
The County has set a completion deadline of October 31.
