Roseville Secures Grant for Energy-Efficient Streetlights

ROSEVILLE, OH – The Village of Roseville has been awarded two separate grants to upgrade its street lighting with energy-efficient LED lights.

A grant of $140,070 will be used to replace 87 streetlights with LED lighting in Muskingum County, while an additional $221,732 grant will fund the replacement of 138 streetlights in Perry County. These upgrades are expected to save on utility costs by 16% and 17%, respectively.

“I feel great. This is awesome for the village. We need this to put more lighting in the village, better lighting with the LEDs, and to get rid of some of the old streetlights that we have here,” Mayor of Roseville, Bryan Stickel said.

The funding comes from the Brightening Ohio Communities grant program, which supports energy-efficient lighting projects in communities needing extra financial assistance. Roseville is among ten Ohio communities that have benefited from this program.

“I started working on this last year. I’m just super thankful that we were awarded one of the ten cities, or villages, within the Southeastern Ohio. We’re very excited for that,” Roseville Fiscal Officer, Debbie Birkimer said.

Roseville is currently collaborating with an engineering firm to plan the project. The start date for the work is yet for determined.
