Ross Named Artcoz Artist of the Month
ZANESVILLE, OH – Britni Ross has been named the ArtCoz Artist of the Month for November.
Her love of art began when she was a child and only grew as she got older. Ross said she enjoys working with watercolor paints and inks because of their unpredictability that causes her to go with the flow.
She said this is what helped create a beloved character she now features throughout her works.
“He’s called a hope smudge and he was born in the darkness of 2020,” Ross said. “Too many canceled plans, lots of uncertainty, and I had fallen into a bit of nihilism and just bad moods. I started painting him and he is my little reminder to hold on to hope and when people see him that seems to be what resonates with them as well.”
Ross said it will be a party on Muskingum Avenue during the First Friday Artwalk.
She said her art will be on display at BunkoJess’ Gallery, Weasel Boy Brewing Company will have a live DJ spinning some records, as well as a gallery hop with lots of vendors happening at the Girl Upcycled Studio.
Ross said she just hopes her art evokes different emotions for those who view it.
“I hope it stirs something up in them,” Ross said. “I hope that it either brings them joy or it brings them a bit of peace when they look at the artwork. Just something they can enjoy for years to come.”
BunkoJess’s Gallery is located at 126 Muskingum Ave and will be open from 5 to 8PM this Friday.
