Roxanne Dodson
Roxanne (Nolan) Dodson, 71, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born June 12, 1955, in Zanesville, to the late Forrest and Norma (Ewing) Nolan, she was a 1972 graduate of Maysville High School. Roxanne busted out a year early so she could marry her high school sweetheart, Clyde “Junior”Dodson on June 23, 1973. They spent 53 years together, and after all those years she still didn’t know what to make for dinner and he still wasn’t home when he said he would be. They somehow managed to make it work and built an amazing life and family together, with more friends than one could ever hope to have.
She and Junior were part of the founding members of the Y-City Hilltoppers and she was known to take the Bronco down the sand drag a time or two! She spent many years as a cashier at Campbell’s Foodland, where she enjoyed her regular customers and getting to see people she knew. She took retirement seriously and became a regular at Central Pike Coffee and the best dog sitter to her granddogs.
She is survived by her husband Junior, her daughters Stacey (John) Farrell and Tracey Dodson, grandchildren Victoria, John Kyle and Alexandria, granddogs Apples, Jasper and Frances, sister Donna Nesselroad, brother Phil Nolan, sister-in-law Judy Stanbery, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Jeff and Chris Dodson, Floyd and Kristy Dodson, Craig and Joyce Dodson and too many nieces and nephews, cousins and close family friends to name.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Dave and Steve Nolan, father-in-law and mother-in-law Clyde and Dorothy Dodson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shelby and Melvin Butcher, sister-in-law Jeanne Nolan, brother-in-laws Jay Nesselroad and Rudy Stanbery, nephew Kyle Dodson and her fur-babies Elliott, Bernie, and Damn-it Henry.
Known to many as Foxy Roxy, she leaves behind many loved ones, along with tons of memories they will forever cherish. She truly was the World’s Best Mom, best friend, and was always there for her girls and their friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charities in memory of Roxanne.
Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday September 24, 2026 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 25, 2026. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
