Roy L. Thorn (July 18, 1937 – January 26, 2015)

Roy L. Thorn, 77 of Zanesville went home to be with his Lord at 10:01 PM Monday, January 26, 2015 with his loving wife and children at his side.
He was born on July 18, 1937 in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia the son of Rev. Arthur C. and Flossie M. (Butcher) Thorn.
Roy was a member and a past Deacon of First Christian Church. He retired from Alfred Nickles Bakery as a driver/salesman and was a member of the Teamsters. Roy was an avid hunter, bowler and golfer. Later in life he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially going to activities to watch his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L. (Clark) Thorn who he married on July 17, 1958 in Zanesville; a daughter, Vickie (Tracy) Flanagan of Nashport, a son Kyle (Renee) Thorn of New Concord; three grandchildren, Cortney and Dakota Thorn, and Dalton Flanagan; and a brother Arthur C. (Mamie) Thorn Jr. of Waynesboro, Virginia. Roy was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his four brothers, Leonard, Ralph, Rolyen and Leon Thorn; and his seven sisters, Delta Miller, Ruby Jarvis, Ruth Callaghan, Mildred Spilberger, Kathryn Hodges, Grace Thorn and Violet Thorn.
Friends may call Thursday, Jan 29th from 4 to 7 pm at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. & Friday Jan. 30th from 10 to 11 am at the First Christian Church. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating and Dr. Herbert Hicks assisting. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
