Ruth E. Handshy

Ruth E. Handshy, 93, of Zanesville, died at 2:05 A.M. on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. She was born September 9, 1924, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Arthur T. and Mary Murphy Swank. She worked in the candy department at Woolworth’s 5-10 cents store.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna J. (Joe) Cowgill; a son, Gary L. (Barb) Handshy; six grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Hughes, Joseph A. (Stephanie) Cowgill, Angela J. (Linda) Lucas, Bradley (Stephanie) Handshy, Teri (Matthew) Beebe, and Bryan (Kristina) Handshy; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Graves, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion L. Handshy; a brother, Lester Swank; and sisters, Thelma Norris, Elenora Kronenbitter, Wanda Winkle, Mary Louise Schmidt, and Carol Hague.

Friends and family may call 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, with Pat Wiseman-Jones and Pastor Alethea Botts officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
