Safety Council Enrollment Ending
Area businesses have a few more days to apply for a workers compensation program.
The Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce can provide the safety council because it is a local representative for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. Chamber president, Tom Poorman, said there are already several new members but the that more businesses can sign up.
“We have about eight new members in the safety council program so far,” Poorman said. “We’d like to double that by the end of the week. We can see no reason that any of the local businesses could not benefit from being a participant in this program.”
Each person enrolled is charged $110 a year. However, Poorman said there are monthly classes about different workplace safety and health issues.
“We represent and serve the local business community and this is one more way in which we can do that, so we really work hard to promote this program and get as much involvement as we can because we know it works,” Poorman said. “We know it helps them save money and provides them really valuable information.”
Businesses have until Friday, July 31 to register. You can visit www.zmsafety.com to learn more about what’s offered under the program.
