Salvation Army Holding Red Kettle Drive

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Salvation Army of Zanesville is starting up their annual Red Kettle drive for the holiday season.
The Red Kettle drive is a mainstay of the Salvation Army. Pastor George Bates says they cannot stress the importance of the donations to the organization.
“That’s what we’re known for. You start talking to somebody about the Salvation Army the first thing they’ll talk about is the bell ringers. The bells, the kettles. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year, pretty much it’s the only one we do get involved in. so much of the things we do throughout the year rely upon this, it’s like ten percent of our budget.”, Bates said this afternoon.
Traditional bellringers and kettles can be found outside businesses around Zanesville. With COVID fears the Salvation Army is also doing something new this year.
“If you can’t make it out to a kettle and you don’t want to send a check directly to the Salvation Army here, we do have a Facebook page. It’s the Salvation Army of Zanesville, and there’s Google and Apple Pay on there. There’s a little QR code that you get onto and you can pay that way. That’s new for us this year, we’re really excited and hoping that that helps.”
Volunteers for the Salvation Army can apply over the phone.
