Salvation Army in Need of Red Kettle Volunteers
The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser of the year is right around the corner.
The organization is in need of bell-ringers for its 2015 Red Kettle Campaign. The annual campaign kicks off on November 14 at Colony Square Mall. Program director, Dustin Redmond, said those interested in volunteering can visit the Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue to sign up.
“Basically if they are willing to come and volunteer, we’re asking them to stand and take a certain amount of hours at one of our 15 different kettle locations throughout the city of Zanesville,” Redmond said.
This holiday season, red kettles will be appearing at different locations all across the area, including Walmart, Kroger, and Campbells…just to name a few. All money raised will support the Salvation Army and its various events held throughout the year.
“I know a lot of people are thinking it’s cold outside, and I really don’t want to stand outside, and I used to have that attitude as well, but when you actually get out there and see people putting money in the kettle and you understand what the money is going towards, you enjoy why you’re out there doing what you’re doing,” Redmond said.
The Salvation Army is also in need of volunteers for its annual Distribution Day. On December 17, volunteers will distribute food items and toys to local families. To sign up for either of these opportunities, you can visit the Salvation Army, or call Mindy McCloy, at 740-452-8350.
