Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Hosts Patriotic Brunch FUndraiser

ZANESVILLE, OH – Patriotism was on full display today as community members gathered at the Salvation Army to celebrate America’s red, white, and blue.
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary hosted its ‘Red, White, and Brunch’ event today. Around 160 people attended the gathering, which featured brunch, a silent auction, baked goods, and a patriotic program celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
“We’re celebrating the 250th year of the United States and we’re also celebrating the 223rd birthday of the state of Ohio.” Women’s Auxiliary President, Beth Archer said. “We’re going to have a brunch and then they’re going to be bidding on the auction. We also have entertainment. Stacey Russell is going to sing for us and she’s going to lead a sing along.”
Organizers say the brunch serves as the Women’s Auxiliary’s largest fundraiser of the year and helps support programs benefiting local families and children throughout Muskingum County. The Auxiliary has supported the Salvation Army since 1952 through volunteer efforts, nursing home visits, Christmas baskets, and the Coats for Kids program.
“It’s important because one of the main projects we have is buying coats for kids. We started buying them right after Christmas and we are still buying them. Last year, we gave 803 brand new winter coats away.” Archer said.
