ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It is widely understood that each Christmas, Santa Claus delivers gifts to children all the way around the world.

Santa was at the Colony Square Mall earlier in the day to visit with area children and gather their last minute Christmas wishes in person. He also shared how much work his elves put in to make his global, gift-delivery endeavors, successful.

“Well, they’re all up north right now, they’re building,” Claus said. “We got a bunch of rush orders, so they’re hustling, they’re breaking time. I mean they’re breaking all kinds of records getting stuff ready. You got to maintain the sleigh. The blades have to be just right. The deers have to be in great health. They’ve got to be fed and watered and ready to go because it’s a long run.”

Santa said he appreciates the millions of letters he gets from children around the world and believes he has a pretty good idea of how well the kids have behaved throughout the year.

“Not everybody can have everything they wish for,” Claus said. “It’s just not physically possible to get all that stuff into a sleigh. So I try to spread it out, spread the cheer and spread the love as best I can. The boys and girls have been extra good this year. And I mean extra good. They’re helping the grownups put up Christmas decorations, they’re helping cleaning up their room, school’s real good for some of those kids. I mean they’re working really hard. They want that Christmas stuff and I don’t mind giving it when they work hard for it.”

Santa says he admires the colorful yard decorations and chocolate chip cookies washed down with hot cocoa served with a peppermint stick is his favorite treat.
