Santa’s Workshop takes over the Salvation Army

Dozens of area high school students are helping to give local families a special holiday gift.

The Salvation Army in Zanesville teamed up with Maysville High School students to pack Christmas food baskets; all for the Salvation Army Food Only and Senior Center Distribution. This year they were able to provide nearly 900 families with meals. Office Coordinator, Mindy McCloy told us, none of this would be possible without the help from a specific place.

“It’s the community. The schools helps us with the canned food and they also helped this year by collecting money in kettles; and we were able to go out and purchase the food at a lower cost,”  Mindy McCloy.

Mccloy told us, each box size ranges depending on the amount of people per household. With the expectation to have enough food to last each person three to four days.

“It’s very exciting. The atmosphere is pumped up. It feels like Santa’s Workshop, everybody is working as a team. You know when you give, it fills you with joy,” said Mindy McCloy.

All of the baskets will be distributed Tuesday, December 15.
