Sara Catherine Winn, 90, of Sealover Hollow Road, Philo, passed away of natural causes Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Primrose Retirement Community. She was born December 18, 1920, as Sara Catherine Fisher daughter of Orville and Iva (Fouts) Fisher.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mariana Wilson of Newark, Kathy (Darrell) Jenkins, Philo, Linda Plants, Duncan Falls, and Valerie (William) Arbaugh, Philo, eight grandchildren Carolee (Vaughn) Ellis, Newark, Melissa (Rob) Jones, Newark, Robert Jenkins, Philo, Christine Rogers, Chandlersville, Theresa (James) Bonifield, Zanesville, Gail (John) Murrell, Kippling, Corey (Jewel) Stoneking, Chandlersville, and Brandon (Rhiannon) Stoneking, Philo, eight great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also, surviving are her two sisters, Ruth Hutchison of California and Anna Zimmerman of Columbus.

In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Earl B. Winn, December 26, 2010; brothers, Walter Fisher and John Fisher and two son-in-laws Thomas Wilson and Phillip Plants.
She obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Ohio University and began her professional career as a teacher working in various school districts. She retired after many years of service as an administrator of Special Education for Zanesville City Schools.
Throughout their 68 years of marriage, Sara and Earl enjoyed running their fruit and vegetable farm, most well known for strawberries. They were long time members of Riverside Grange, and were avid square and ball room dancers. They also enjoyed worldwide travel over the years.
Calling hours at Thompson Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls will be Friday, October 7th, 4 pm until 7 pm and the funeral will be held Saturday, October 8th, at 10:30 A.M. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
