Scenes from Oz Coming to Zanesville
ZANESVILLE, OH – Get ready to click your heels because a beloved story is coming to life right here in Zanesville!
The Main Street Theatre from Movement on Main is set to perform Scenes from Oz on Tuesday, May 13th at 7:30 P.M. The magical evening will take place at Central Trinity United Methodist Church and features a cast of local children and youth playing Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion, and the Wicked Witch.
“We’re going to be offering Scenes from Oz. Later on in the summer, there’s going to be a whole production about this, but this is a preview of that. You would expect probably the Tin Man to be there, Dorothy, and maybe a Witch. It’ll be children and youth from the area, and they’ll do a free performance, and it helps them get ready for their big performance later on this summer,” Thursday Music Club Member Jim McLaughlin said.
The performance is part of the Thursday Music Club’s 115th anniversary celebration. All events through the club are free and open to the public, including this walk-through Oz.
“We offer the Bach to Broadway at Secrest, we offer a Handel’s Messiah at the Christmas season, we offer a Handbell Festival, we offer an event out OUZ for K-8th grade musicians, and we offer a music scholarship competition at OUZ for summer music camp that’s totally funded by the music club. So, there’s a lot of neat opportunities for people of all ages. If they have a calling for music, then we’ll provide an opportunity for them to explore that,” McLaughlin said.
Central Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 62 South Seventh Street in Zanesville.
