Scholarships from the Muskingum County Community Foundation
The holiday season brings many things, and the Muskingum County Community Foundation is striving to get applications for scholarships.
Each year the Community Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to seniors in high school. Director of College Access Programs at the Community Foundation, Heather Sands, could not put a number on the amount of scholarships they offer, but said there are scholarships that are applicable to anyone.
"It’s a wide range," Sands said. "It’s not just for the students that might have a 4.0 or the top in their class. They’re also scholarships for students who have a 2.5 GPA to a 3.5 GPA, so every walk. There are so many different opportunities out there."
Applying for scholarships can be a difficult time for students because it is not something that they have had to do before. Sands said that foundation employees are available for individual consultation to help guide students through the process.
"Coming into the holiday season we know that they’re off for Christmas break, so it’s a perfect time for current college students and high school seniors to come in and get help," Sands said. "We have open hours coming up in March which we’ll advertise as well, but we don’t want them to wait until those open hours. We want them to definitely come in before Christmas."
The Community Foundation posts upcoming deadlines on its Twitter and Facebook pages and on its website at www.mccf.org.
