Schubach Big Band to Share Christmas Cheer with Holiday Concert
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Schubach Big Band is getting ready to perform in their very first Holiday Concert.
The free Holiday Concert will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12th at 7PM in the Central Presbyterian Church.
David Schubach, the Composer and Band Leader, says they typically only host their concert during the summertime at Zane’s Landing Park.
But this year they wanted to swing the community into the holiday spirit.
“This year we want to get everyone into the spirit of the holidays and it’s generously sponsored by the Straker Foundation so this is absolutely free and open to the public.” Schubach said. “And just doing holiday favorites, “Winter Wonderland”, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”, the Gloria Estefan version of “Let it Snow.”, and an up-tempo, swing version of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
Schubach said the concert will also feature 6 singers: Misty Conner, Steve Spires, Stacy Russell-Welker, Rachelle Synder, Tim Vance as well as Schubach himself.
He says it’s been a great experience getting all of the musicians ready to bring holiday cheer to the community.
“It’s a double plus for me, because if you know me, what I really love to do is write music.” Schubach said. “So all the time I spend putting dots on paper, now I get to see it come to life with professional musicians from around the region, and they do a great job, so it’s pure joy for me.”
Central Presbyterian Church is located at 40 N 6th St. across from Bryan Place.
