Semi Takes Out Street Lights, Poles
A semi truck driver is charged with two counts after knocking down street lights and three utility poles at an intersection in Zanesville.
The Zanesville Fire Department says part of the intersection of Market Street and Greenwood Avenue was shut down this morning because of fallen limbs from last night’s storms. Some of the limbs pulled the cable lines closer to the road. They say this afternoon around 12:40 p.m., a semi-truck drove through those lowered-lines, knocking down the streetlights and pulling the supporting poles right out of the ground.
The driver is charged with failure to obey a traffic control device and drving on a closed roadway, both misdemeanors.
Zanesville Fire and Dolice departments have shut down the road to clean up the damage.
Zanesville police suggest avoiding the closed area. They suggest taking I-70 or Sharon Avenue and cutting through on Richards Road to avoid the intersection.
