SEOSO Spreads Holiday Cheer with Annual Christmas Concert

ZANESVILLE, OH -The SouthEastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra is getting ready to bring some holiday cheer with their upcoming Christmas Concert.

The Christmas Concert will take place at Secrest Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 5th at 7PM.

Dr. Laura Schumann, the Music Director and Conductor of the SEOSO, said it’s been a wonderful and magical time putting all the finishing touches on some fan favorite songs.

She said this concert is like a gift to the community, to help give residents some holiday spirit.

“Our thought was, we really wanted to give back to the community,” Dr. Schumann said. “So we don’t charge admission for the concert and we want to put people in the mood and I mean, who doesn’t love coming and hearing an entire orchestra doing “The Grinch” and things of that nature, Charlie Brown all these favorite tunes that we do on the holiday concert.”

Dr. Schumann said while there is no cost for the concert, they are asking those who attend for a nonperishable food item. She said they will collect all of the donations following the concert to then be distributed to those in need.

Schumann said the holidays are meant to make you feel holly and jolly, not like the Grinch, and she hopes this concert does just that.

“This time of year sometimes people can be very angry and it can be problematic and we don’t want anyone to be angry this time of year, it’s the holiday season so we definitely don’t want angry,” Schumann said. “So instead of being angry, we want you to think happy thoughts, holiday thoughts, and Santa Claus and all of the wonderful things that go with the holiday season and music to bring it all together.”
