Share your Library Experience

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System has started the ‘Share your Library Experience Campaign’.

There is a display of post cards in each library with quotes from the American Library Association regarding how lives have been changed by libraries. Director of Libraries Jennifer Spillman said on the back of each post card the library system wants people to write why their library matters to them.

“We’re going to send them to the State House in Columbus, because right now they’re working on our budget and we want to make sure that our patrons have a voice to say how important the library services are in Muskingum County,” Spillman said. “This gives them a platform to do that and we want them to read them and continue to fund libraries.”

The post cards will be collected about once a week and sent off to the Ohio State House for the State Legislatures.

The campaign started this past week and a few people have already turned in their post cards to be sent in. One young girl named Hailey participated and said what John McIntire Library meant to her.

“My library matters to me, because you can get all the books you want to read and the movies at the library,” Hailey wrote. “It is so important to all of us and everyone too.”

Spillman said she’s not originally from Muskingum County, but she’s been in library systems and to see how the Muskingum County Library System is impacting the community is heart warming.

“To hear about the little girl Hailey who feels the library is so important to her it really brings joy to me,” Spillman said. “To realize,to hear and understand how important it is to her it’s very heart warming.”

Spillman said the ‘Share your Library Experience Campaign will take place from now until June 30, 2017.
