Shedding the Extra Pounds after the Holidays

When I think of the holidays, I think of family, good friends and of course lots of great food. But, those homemade noodles, and countless cookies can mean unwanted weight gain.

Christmas has come and gone and now we can look forward to a new year and a new fitness resolution that’s bound to kick the cookie calories to the curb.

"People start the year with really good intentions. They come out of Christmas and new years wanting to get started and the important thing is, to come to a facility that has a lot of options for you because, not everyone want to do the treadmill, not everybody wants to swim but, you need to find thing that you enjoy. So getting started on the right foot is just finding something that you enjoy," Executive Director Beth Chapman.

Chapman says fitness is a lifestyle change and the best way to get results, is to not just make the goal but, to keep it.

"For the New Years Resolutions, the unfortunate thing with that is everybody starts with really good intentions but, it’s making a lifestyle change that you carry throughout the year. You don’t want to get something started the first of the year and then drop it. The big thing is, finding something that you enjoy that you can carry out throughout the year and not make it just the first of the year," said Chapman.
