Sheridan’s Fisher Steps Away After Storied Baseball and Basketball Runs

THORNVILLE, OH

After nearly a quarter of a century at the helm of the Sheridan baseball program, Sheridan head coach Doug Fisher is stepping away from the diamond in Thornville. The decision was approved by the Northern Local Schools Board of Education.

Fisher resigned from his position back on March 13th, while also deciding to retire from teaching at the end of the school year after thirty plus years. Over 850 wins as a coach between baseball and basketball, he had quite a storied career with the Generals over the last two and a half decades.

Eight league titles, 13 sectional titles, eight MVL coach of the year awards, eight district coach of the year awards, and a Southeast District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame induction in 2023.

2005 Sheridan graduate Josh Coleman, who played and coached under Fisher, will assume the new leadership role for the baseball team when the Generals play at Zanesville on Wednesday. A new basketball head coach has yet to be named.
