Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty
A Zanesville man charged in connection with a drive by shooting that injured a man was arraigned in court Wednesday.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, 23-year-old Mark Smart appeared in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court where he pleaded not guilty to seven counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm at or into a habitation. Both charges carry a firearm specification.
Zanesville Police say on July 15th, Smart shot into a crowd of people in front of a home on Jackson Street . Police say a male was struck in the chest by one of the bullets.
Smart is being held in the Muskingum County jail on a $500,000 bond.
