Show Ring Stars Shines at the Guernsey County Fair

OLD WASHINGTON, Ohio — Show Ring Stars gave children and adults the opportunity to step inside the show ring Thursday at the Guernsey County Fair.
The free event welcomes people ages 5 and older who have disabilities or receive mental health services. Each participant was paired with a 4-H mentor who shared an animal and taught them the basics of showing it.
Participants could show rabbits, lambs, goats, feeder calves or miniature donkeys.
Now in its second year, the program is a partnership among the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Cedar Ridge Behavioral Health Solutions, the Guernsey County Farm Bureau and the Guernsey County Fair Board.
“This is our second year. We are so excited,” Jenna Conaway with the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities said. “It was a great idea from the Farm Bureau. We worked with the Fair Board. We worked with Cedar Ridge to make it all happen.”
The Guernsey County Fair continues through Saturday. A schedule of the remaining events is available on the fair’s website
