Sister of Killer in Court

The sister of a convicted murderer was in court Wednesday, charged with helping him flee from authorities.

19-year-old Desiree Lomax pled not-guilty to two counts of obstructing justice in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.

According to Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox, Lomax helped her brother 22-year-old Joey Hampton while he was wanted for murder following the shooting of 21-year-old Dante Wolford last September. Hampton was found a month after the shooting in Florida.

Prosecutor Haddox says Lomax in charged with two counts stemming from Hampton’s time on the run. Haddox says on October 4, 2011 Lomax provided Hampton with money or transportation. He also says on October 18, 2011 Lomax helped to hinder the discovery of Hampton.

Hampton was sentenced last month to 18-years-to-life in prison.

Judge Kelly Cottrill continued Lomax’s bond at $50,000.
