ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A sneakercon was held at Lind Arena Skating Rink this afternoon!

For those unfamiliar, a ‘sneakercon’ is an event where collectors of shoes come together to buy, sell or trade their shoes.

The event is the first of its kind to come to the city of Zanesville.

Matt Burrell, the organizer of the event, says that Sneakercon brings something new to the community.

“Just to give people a chance to have something different in Zanesville, we dont really have many things like this. The skating rink is a kind of a cornerstone foundation. You know building our community so everyone knows where its at what it is, so I like to just keep new things coming in the business,” Burrell told us.

There were over 200 pairs of shoes in building, with many people have at least 30 pairs in their collections.

Burrell said he got his inspiration from other cities, but he feels it’s something everyone should enjoy.

“You don’t have to necessarily be a sneakerhead, you can be somebody just getting into it or you can be a sneakerhead, somebody that’s been collecting for years. Its really just for everybody. But you are able to sell your own and buy some or trade them,” he said.

There are bigger versions of sneakercons throughout the country, with a national one in Cleveland being the inspiration for this one.

There are plans for a lot more sneakercons to come to the city in the future years.
