Soccer Star Signs Contract
An area soccer standout is taking his indoor game outdoors.
Kolby LaCrone spent the last six months playing professional indoor soccer for the Louisville Lightning in Kentucky. Now the forward is moving to an outdoor field.
LaCrone recently signed a contract with the Dayton Dutch Lions of the United Soccer League, a team with strong European influences.
"It’s a whole cultural experience. They grow up with it and the following they usually have and the way they approach the game both in training and in games is professional and it’s serious and they don’t take it very lightly," said LaCrone.
The first year team starts training camp on March 26 and begins the season at home April 16 against the reigning USL Champions the Charleston Battery. For LaCrone it’s a chance to play closer to home.
"I’m ecstatic about it. I can’t wait to come home and have family and friends make it down to many of the games and on an off day come home and put my feet up in my home and recharge the batteries for practice," said LaCrone.
LaCrone also continues to work with his foundation Kolby’s Kickers which is currently raising money to build soccer fields in Ethiopia.
