ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation has narrowed it down and selected the Spring Grant Winners.

Fourteen local organizations have been selected to receive a portion of $34,500 raised in their annual Groundhog Day Celebration. C.E.O. of M.C.C.F. Brian Wagner said organizations had to go through a rigorous process of applying and being put through a distribution committee, taken through a rubric to score so the board of trustees could then select who will win based off their final scores.

“As you look at the recipients, the committee tries to be mindful of looking across the county and finding organizations that are doing different activities,” Wagner said. “This year we focused in on a couple of our corner stones with education and economic vitality, received and are granting out dollars to organizations that we think are making an impact in those areas.”

The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation has also selected what organizations will receive the 2017 Youth Grant. Wagner said the youth foundation is composed of local high school students who make the selection for the Youth Grant.

“Which is exciting because they get that opportunity to look through the proposals, look through the applications and see how they can make a difference back into our community,” Wagner said. “The young people in our [Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation] are really looking at activities and events are making an immediate hands on sort of impact back into the community.
