St. James Episcopal Church was founded in 1816. Rector Robert Willmann said the church started off with humble beginnings. Church services were held in homes until 1843 when St. James Episcopal Church was built in downtown Zanesville.
“We have a wonderful celebration planned that’s going to highlight what St.James has meant to the community of Zanesville for 200 year, especially noting that some of the most generous people of Zanesville over the past 200 years have come from this church,” Rector Willmann said.
This Sunday at 4 p.m., St. James church will be celebrating their 200th anniversary with a special Eucharistic mass.
“In our church our celebrations are always open to everyone. We invite the whole community.”
