State Patrol Investigates Fatal Accident in Licking County

The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred Friday in Licking County.

It happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. on State Route 16 in Granville Township.  According to the patrol, James B. Loats, 46, of Granville was traveling eastbound on State Route 16 in a 2003 Ford Taurus.  His vehicle then traveled left of center and struck a 2014 Mack truck driven by 57-year-old David C. Edwards of Somerset.

Edwards was uninjured, but Loats was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident remains under investigation.
