State Rep. Brian Hill Talks New Legislation
Small business owners in Ohio will see a significant income tax deduction come 2016.
State Representative, Brian Hill, paid a visit to Zanesville to give an update on the latest bills passing through the statehouse, as well as, the state budget. Small businesses will receive a 100-percent tax deduction beginning in 2016 on the first $250,000 of their income. A three percent flat tax will then be applied on the remaining net income.
“We finished the budget in June, and we had to redo a few things in the budget here a few weeks ago with the budget corrections bill, to make sure that our schools were taken care of with the tangible personal property, and our income tax cut on small business, we had to do some fixes there, and we got that taken care of,” Hill said.
With the recent defeat of Issue 3, the idea of legalizing marijuana for only medicinal use is a hot topic of discussion in the statehouse. Hill said representatives are looking into potential legislation moving forward.
“I see some discussion of a possible bill moving forward, we need to have more clinical studies and get involved there, to see whether or not there is truly a use for that, in a form that can be controlled, and help those in need,” Hill said.
Hills said the initiative is still in the early stages of discussion, but recent polls have shown support for medical marijuana in Ohio.
