STEPPING STONES NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP DAY

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The community coming together to clean up one local neighborhood.
Homeless Hands of Zanesville hosted a community cleanup day Saturday morning. The meet up place was at their Stepping Stone home. Everyone was welcome to participate in going around the Putnam neighborhood and pick up trash. Bags and gloves were provided by Homeless Hands with a dumpster that was donated by Rocks Hauling.
“The homeless get a bad rep around this area, saying the trash is from them and everything. So we wanted to just kind of make a community effort to get the trash picked up. It’s not all from homeless. And help out the community, make it look better, make them feel better about themselves,” said President of Homeless Hands, Tammy Clark.
Along with the community cleanup, Homeless Hands of Zanesville also opened their Stepping Stone doors to the public for an open house. Anyone was welcome to take a tour of the home which is being held as a transition home for unsheltered people into independent living. Snacks and refreshments were available for visitors. The open house was a way to spread the mission of Homeless Hands of Zanesville.
“We’re also doing an open house where people can come in and tour the Stepping Stones house. And see what the transitions are like and help gets the community’s support,” said Vice President, Jennifer Campbell.
If you are interested in staying at the Stepping Stones home, you need to fill out an application that can be obtained at the home itself.
