Another Tornado – This Time in Dresden

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For the third time in less than six weeks… a tornado has touched down in Muskingum County.
Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency along with the National Weather Service were assessing damage from Monday night’s storms. Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director, Jeff Jadwin said the determination from the National Weather Service was that the winds that hit the western part of the County and the Olde Falls area were straight-line winds. But as those winds moved further to the Northeast, in the Dresden area, it transitioned into a tornado.
“They have determined that it was an EF1 tornado that hit just east of Dresden, out in the Stillwell Road area. We got a lot of tree damage and stuff out in that area,” said Jadwin.
Jadwin said the winds reached up to 95 miles per hour in Dresden. No injuries have been reported to the Emergency Management Agency office. There were minor damages to homes, fallen trees, and debris out on the roadways. Jadwin added that the County had crews cleaning up the debris all throughout the day. Their other goal is to restore power to homes that have lost electric.
“At the peak of things last night AEP was reporting about 8,000 people without electric. Guernsey and Muskingum was reporting about 100 and some homes without electric. My last conversation with AEP a couple hours ago, they were down to under 1,000 with hopes of having 90 percent of those back on by 11 o’clock tonight,” he said.
