Strike Out Breast Cancer

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Getting diagnosed with cancer is a scary situation for anyone but an upcoming event aims to help support breast cancer patients and survivors.

Strike out Breast Cancer Chairperson Tammy Ansberry-Hildenbrand announced the 10th annual, 9-pin, no tap, fundraiser, bowling tournament that is themed this year as ‘Faith Over Fear.’

“This is our 10 year anniversary of our tournament and is my 10 year anniversary of survivorship,” Ansberry-Hildenbrand said. “And so Faith Over Fear came to me one morning when I woke up and I was reading my devotional. It just came to me and I just thought to myself, you know we’re all battling something internal. It doesn’t have to be that you’re the person with cancer. It could be someone that you’ve lost, it could be somebody that you’ve just learned has been diagnosed. And I think that it’s our faith that gets us through the fear of the unknown.”

The public is invited to attend the tournament that will take place 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8th, at the Sunrise Bowling Center, located on the East Pike in Zanesville.

“Last year we presented the cancer center, Pebbles Thornton and her crew with a check for $10,000 dollars. That was our highest-to-date fund/money we’ve raised. And this money is gonna go to all folks going through their journey. It’s for wigs, it’s for prosthetics, it’s for gas cards, it’s for whatever you need to help you get through your journey,” Ansberry-Hildenbrand said.

The bowling tournament is full but there will be plenty of fun and entertainment with door prizes, auctions and raffles, as well as the ‘Buck-I-Guy’ adding to the fun and festive atmosphere.
