Summer Events Continue at Muskingum County Library System

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System continues to offer to the community lots of exciting events this Summer season.
The Summer reading program is continuing as an interactive way to interest children into reading, discovering, and creating with a fun space theme called “A Universe of Stories.” The purpose of the Summer reading program to develop literacy while kids are on a break from school.
“Summer reading is a critical part of any child’s Summer and continued learning. So one of the main reasons is not only to have fun in the Summer, but to also engage kids in literacy and reading and critical thinking. So really do prevent the Summer slide,” said MCLS Marketing Community Relations Director, Sean Fennell.
The Muskingum County Library System is also hosting a grant funded program called the Mental Health First Aid Training. Participants will learn risk factors and the warning signs of mental health and addiction. They will receive training from local trainers on different strategies to help those in a crisis situation and where they can turn for help.
“It really opens your mind and gives you the skills that you need to be able to help people in crisis situations. There’s opportunities for everybody at the library this Summer for adults and for children just to help bring new information, ideas, and skill sets to our community,” Fennell added.
