Summer Job Opportunities Still Available

Ohio Means Jobs

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Area employers are still seeking individuals for employment this Summer season.

The City of Zanesville is still looking to fill some seasonal positions. Supervisor for OhioMeansJobs of Muskingum County, Julie Metzger said these positions would be taking care of the city property for example mowing. Other positions open in the area are landscaping, truck driving, and manufacturing jobs. The jobs can be found on Indeed.com, and Metzger said young adults are encouraged to apply for these jobs because they are great resume builders.

“Any time you can put experiences, multiple summer positions, seasonal positions, anything that you can put where you are learning skills and you can develop the skills and put that on your resume..is nothing wrong with that all, it’s just good information,” she said.

General job opportunities, that are not necessarily just seasonal, are also available such as distribution positions, gas and oil related positions, and even heavy equipment operators. But Metzger adds that with starting out with a summer job, it could potentially turn into a more permanent job.

“What’s good about seasonal is a lot of times they will bring kids or anyone that’s interested in seasonal positions back, and it may develop into a full time, long term position,” she said.
