Superintendent of Zanesville City Schools Speaks About State Report Card
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Reaction from Zanesville City Schools following the release of the state report card Thursday.
Area schools received grades based on performance and achievement. Superintendent of Zanesville City Schools Dr. Doug Baker said the district will focus on improving the areas that received the low scores.
“Timing is a big part of the report. Which the scores coming out so late and the new testing actually a month and half two months from now it doesn’t really just you a big chance to use information. And use that information to make changes. So we’re actually looking at older data. One of the biggest efforts that we’ve been doing here is taking a look at curriculum and making sure it aligned with the standards, “said Dr. Baker.
Dr. Baker said the district is working on having a form and function so students can transition seamlessly from grades K through 12. Dr. Baker also offers some advice for parents concerned about the grades.
“Start with your teacher. And find out what’s going on in the classroom. What the students are learning. We also have 21st century after school program for our students. Those are very important for our students to take part in if they are not doing other activities as well,” said Dr. Baker.
