Suspect in Downtown Zanesville Break-Ins in Custody

Zanesville,OH- A suspect in connection to several break-ins in downtown Zanesville was taken into custody Thursday.

Det. Sgt. Phil Michel said after the break-ins, Wednesday, officers obtained surveillance video from several locations in the downtown area to assist with the identification of the suspect. Thursday, officers located an individual matching the suspect’s description. The person was taken into custody and additional evidence was recovered.

The case will be presented to the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The suspect’s identity won’t be released until formal charges are filed.

Police said the break-ins May 7, took place in the early morning hours and included the Art Gallery and Zanesville Tool Grinder Machine Shop on Main Street, St. Thomas Aquinas Church on 5th Street, St. John’s Lutheran Church on 7th and Market Street Baptist Church on 6th Street.
