Suspect in Licking Co. Homicide Charged in Muskingum County
Muskingum County- A Hopewell man faces several charges in both Muskingum and Licking Counties.
46-year-old Jason Castle is charged in Muskingum County with aggravated trafficking in drugs with a major drug offender specification, illegal cultivation of marijuana within the vicinity of a juvenile and possession of drugs marijuana.
“It’s just a reflection back on the types of stuff we have in our county and the type of stuff we are recovering from the streets,” said Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz and Zanesville Police Chief Scott Comstock said the investigation into Castle began when assisting Licking County in reference to a homicide investigation.
“They contacted us for some assistance as the suspect lived in this county,” explained Sheriff Lutz. “There was a pursuit that night of that suspect, the suspect was taken into custody, then once the suspect was taken into custody it gave us probable cause to do a search warrant in our county at an Asbury Chapel residence.”
The search October 10, uncovered 2,200 grams of methamphetamine, over 11,000 grams of marijuana, 2-firearms and over $2,000 in U.S. Currency, as well as evidence pertinent to the Licking County homicide investigation. Castle is currently being held at the Licking County Justice Center.
