Talent Show Celebrates Second Year

A spin on a popular talent show came to Zanesville.

Zanesville Has Talent drew a large crowd to the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center for the last auditions before the finals.

"One thing that’s different with this competition and many other competitions that you may be familiar with or see at a variety of different events is that in addition to just solo or vocalists we have opened it to a number of performing artists," said Vicki Maple

More than one hundred people have gone through auditioning. Several acts included dancers from local companies and vocal duets and ensembles.

The event raises funds and awareness for the Keep the Kids in School Initiative which partners local business owners with schools.

"We go into schools representing the CASS-M.I.N.D. organization, encouraging young people not only to stay in school but to create a path for themselves and along the way we like to also heighten the awareness of arts and culture and performance because we think that it’s just a great discipline for young people," said Maple.

The finals will take place Saturday, August fourth at 11 a.m. at the Welcome Center.
