Thanksgiving at Christ’s Table
ZANESVILLE, OH –As families come together to celebrate Thanksgiving, many in our community are working to ensure no one goes without a meal.
Warm plates of Thanksgiving favorites were served up at the annual Christ’s Table. Volunteers prepared and distributed hot meals from turkey and stuffing to pumpkin pie, the pantry is all about creating a sense of community and giving back to those who may need it.
Christ’s Table Executive Director Keely Warden is excited to continue helping the community.
“By the grace of God and this wonderful community we’re here to serve those that maybe don’t have a place to go and eat with family and friends. We are open here every day of the week, and all holidays, so a big thank you to the community that makes this possible. I don’t think there’s anything we had to go out and buy for Thanksgiving dinner,” Warden said. “We cooked 47 Turkeys; we’ve done 250 boxes of stuffing and all of this has been provided to us by our community, which so graciously just wants to be part of something good.”
More than 75 volunteers braved the cold air and rain to assist at Christ’s Table. From slicing pies to delivering meals to those who are homebound, everyone came together to support the community during this time.
Many come year after year, including volunteer Rowdy Zemba.
“I’ve been doing this for I think 10 years. Since I was 5,” Zemba said. “We’ve just been preparing the pies, we’re just get everything ready for when they start serving. I’ll be serving later as well.”
Preparation for Thanksgiving began in late October, with many contributors helping out. Park National Bank baked 107 homemade pies this Thanksgiving, and others went above and beyond to make this possible as well.
