The 170th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair Kicks Off

The 170th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair is now underway.
The annual event opened up with a blue ribbon cutting that took place around 4:45 p.m Sunday. Although there was a rainy start, Fair Board President, Darrel Cubbison said the downpour did not prevent the festivities from staying on track, and he is looking forward to another successful week.
“We haven’t missed a beat today. We had everything right on schedule, the harness racing was held up for just a short time during the storm, we continued to have them and we will have harness racing Monday at 1 p.m,” said Cubbison.
There is a high chance of rain during the course of the week. However, Cubbison said that will not put a damper on the fair activities, In fact he sees it as a plus.
“Of course the rain will effect us but you have to remember this is an agricultural fair and the farmers really appreciate the rains that we get from the sky,” said Cubbison.
The fair will go on each day through Saturday August 20th. General admission is $9 for folks 2 years old and up.
