The 2nd Annual Zanesville Muskingum Riverfest starts this weekend
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum Riverfest returns this weekend at Zane’s Landing Park.
The Muskingum Valley Park District has partnered with the city of Zanesville to host this weekend long event that is free to the public. The event features food trucks, live music, and plenty of river-based fun. Russell Edgington is the executive director of the Muskingum Valley Park District and shares what he’s looking forward to at this event.
“Probably one of the most significant things is we have chartered the Lorena Sternwheeler for the weekend. We’ll be operating approximately between 10 [a.m.] and 3 [p.m.] each day. Free rides. The rides will be about 45 minutes and we just ask people to show up. Tickets will be available on an as available basis. We can only take about 45 per trip so again I encourage people to go on the website to check out the actual times for departure,” Edgington said.
With 1,500 visitors at last years event and with people looking forward to this weekend, Edgington already has his sights set for the event to expand in the years to come.
“…we’re hoping to grow the event and the dream is to eventually have it stretch from here (Zane’s Landing Park) all the way to Riverside Park and have more activities,” Edgington said. “Again, trying to focus on the river. The river kind of an idle potential resource in this community. If you go to any other community that has water and boating it’s a primary activity. Used to be in Zanesville and we’re trying to bring it back.”
Information about the Zanesville-Muskingum Riverfest can be found on the Muskingum Valley Parks District website and on their Facebook page. The event starts this Saturday at 10 a.m.
