The 6th Annual Crooksville Community Celebration

Zanesville, Ohio- The Mayor of Crooksville fired the 1st cannon volley to kick off the 6th Annual Crooksville Community Celebration.

The idea for the annual festival started 7 years ago when members of the ‘Peerless Mason Lodge 591’ decided to bring an Independence Day celebration to community since they haven’t had one in Crooksville since 1997.

"The local eagles in town did it before hand and ran into hard times with financing. We decided seven years ago that we should pick it back up and start trying to put it together and that’s what it came to be," said Christopher Mohler, President of the Village Council.

During the event there was a Civil War Reenactment as well as a Revolutionary Guard members reenacting from the American Evolution.

"We started it on a Sunday six years ago and because, of other festivals going on we didn’t want to compete with Summerset Ohio and Zanesville. We just decided that we would be the first and we’re always the last Saturday in June now. Not only as a Independence Day celebration but, as a community event as well to get everybody together," said Mohler.

All proceeds from the event goes towards the operation of the next community celebration.
