ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Six local restaurant chefs are battling for Top Chef of Muskingum at the 7th Annual Taste of Muskingum. The local non-profit organization, FoodWorks Alliance, is hosting the culinary competition on November 5th featuring a silent auction, a curated tasting menu, and an evening of networking and fellowship at the Weathering Woods.

“The Taste of Muskingum is a local chef competition. We have six local chefs that come to compete head to head by making sample sized dishes that everybody in attendance, about 220 to 250 people, will be voting on,” said Amy Aurore, the executive director for FoodWorks Alliance. “So this year our chefs are from Muddy Misers, Rake’s Place, A Taste of Greece, [The] 146, Tacology and The Barn. And we’re really looking forward to seeing how they compete head to head.”

Tickets are still available for the event at $50 per person with proceeds benefitting FoodWorks Alliance which helps support food-based entrepreneurs via access to commercial kitchen space, equipment, and mentorship. This event serves as their primary fundraiser throughout the year.

“It’s a huge asset to the community as far as small business growth and what FoodWorks is doing. Everything from the workforce re-entry to those small business assistance. I mean it’s just helping our community grow,” said Shala Aitken, the vice president of the board for FoodWorks Alliance.

Proceeds also help fund the non-profit’s Recovery With a Purpose program which provides paid culinary training for women in addiction recovery. You can learn more or get your ticket to Taste of Muskingum by visiting FoodWorks Alliance’s website.
