The American Legion Post 29 lifts the spirits of local veterans

ZANESVILLE, OH– The American Legion Post 29 are making the lives of 123 local veterans a little merrier this holiday season.
The Legion has come together to gift veterans with an assortment of different items ranging from candy to slippers.
“The Legion started this project back in, probably 17 years ago, and since I’ve taken over I’ve brought in the Veteran of Foreign Wars, The Veterans Appreciation Foundation, The Disabled American Veterans, and I have a lot of companies that help out, which is Dollar General, Ollie’s, Avon, Harry and David, Colgate, and we just gather up the stuff, pack it up and we deliver it to each individual veteran in the rest homes,” says Rick Miller, Second Vice at The American Legion Post 29.
It is important to remember our veterans during the holidays and to show our appreciation.
“A lot of the veterans don’t have any family that come to visit them, and at least we’re going in and showing we still care, we provide the gifts for them, and just mainly let them know that they’re still thought about,” says Miller.
The American Legion Post 29 will be giving gifts again next year to veterans. If you would like to donate or get involved, leave a message for Rick Miller at (740) 440-2396.
