Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Lilly
ZANESVILLE, OH – This week the Animal Shelter Society is spotlighting a little dog with a big personality.
Meet Lilly! She’s a 6-year-old Shih Tzu, who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is waiting on her forever family.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, said Lilly does well with other dogs and cats and would make the perfect lap dog for an older family looking for a new addition.
Gibson also says because of her breed, Lilly would need a dedicated groomer.
“She’s obviously shih tzu, and you know, you’re going to have to make sure that whoever adopts her, that grooming is extremely important,” Gibson said. “You don’t want her to be, you know, shaggy. When they get shaggy, that’s very painful for them, so we want to make sure we get her adopted out to a family that has an established groomer or we’ll make sure that they get one.”
The community is also invited to come by the Animal Shelter Society for a night of music and relaxation.
“Music for Mutts” will be on Wednesday, June 12th, from 6 to 8PM in the Shelter’s parking lot.
Gibson said she is so excited to be able to give the community the opportunity to just sit back and relax with some friends and some good music.
“You know, it’s not going to be a huge money maker for us, as a 100% non-profit,” Gibson said. “But you know what, you also want to give back to your community because it’s your community that’s giving to you so we can keep these doors open.”
In the case of rain, the “Music for Mutts” concert will be moved to the following Wednesday, June 19th.
