The Girl Scout Olympics Takes Place This Weekend
ZANESVILLE, OH – You may only know them for their cookies, but the Girl Scouts are giving you an opportunity to learn more about them this Sunday at the Girl Scout Olympics. The Girl Scout Olympics is from 3 to 5 p.m. this Sunday at the Girl Scout Center on Bowers Lane in Zanesville.
“We are doing friendship bracelets, we’re going to have a scavenger hunt, we’re going to do some sling shots, we’re going to have a hobby horse race, and some golf chipping at targets, so, and then face painting. We’re going to do a science experiment. So we’re just going to do a bunch of different activities to try and get girls interested,” said Tony Palmer, the membership manage for Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland.
Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland hopes this event allows girls and their families to learn more about what they have to offer.
“Girl Scouts is a program that helps develop leaders. Our mission statements. Our mission statement is that Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. So it’s leadership development and self esteem. It also introduces girls to STEM opportunities and entrepreneurial skills with our, fall product program and our cookie program. So, and it’s also a great place to meet other girls and make life long friends,” Palmer said.
The event is free to attend with free food and activities but those famous cookies will also be available for sale if you’d like some desert for the road.
More information about the event can be found on the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartlands Facebook page and more information about the organization can be found on their website.
