The Heath Bulldogs Are Back with a New Roster and the Same Goal
HEATH, OH
It was a moment that will never be forgotten in the Heath community. A state title in 2024 after a superb run through the Division III tournament put the Bulldogs on top of all the rest.
Back at Dave Klontz Field, it all begins again as the Bulldogs are back to work in 2025 with quite a different look to their roster this year.
“Well obviously, we had nine seniors, and eight of them were every day players. You know, that’s really tough to replace” says manager Tom Warren. “We do have two really good seniors coming back. One was an All-Ohio player and the other will be a four-year starter, so we have that to build off of.”
Will it be a tall task? Perhaps. But are the Bulldogs ready for it? You already know the answer to that one.
“It’s a big adjustment. Same goal though, is going back to the state championship, and all the guys know it in the dugout” says senior outfielder Connor Corbett. “We want to do it again. We’re the big dogs right now in Division IV, so they got to be able to be the best to beat us.”
Led by Corbett and fellow senior Tannar Patterson, the young Bulldogs will soon find out that there is more to building a title run than what you do on the diamond.
“I think being a family, that’s something I really want to incorporate this year with this team. Corbett and I already decided that we’re going to keep bonding” says Patterson.
“Go out and play Heath Bulldog baseball. That’s what we’ve talked about all winter. These guys are all competitors” continues Warren. “We had a JV team that won 19 games last year, so we’re going to rely on six or seven of those guys to come in and fill varsity starting positions. Our expectations are always high here.”
The Bulldogs will look to meet those expectations in 2025 with a new look roster and the same old goal of running it back this year.
