ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Local Perry County businesses, gardeners, and home owners are coming together for the annual Perry County Home and Garden Show.

The event will be held at the Mt. Aloysius Activity Center in New Lexington on Friday, May 8, and the following Saturday with free admission. According to Amanda Allen, a member of the Perry County Master Gardeners and a volunteer for the event, there will be over 30 vendors present.

“I love to see people come through the door. They’re excited, they get to browse, they get to see what’s new, what’s different, make the contact with the vendors,” Allen said. “I think a lot of people are just so use to online shopping that they forget what that, you know, closeness is with your vendor. Like, somebody made this, they’ve brought it to you to sell. You know that sort of interaction, I really value that.”

The Perry County Home and Garden show is sponsored by the Perry County Chamber of Commerce and the Perry County Master Gardeners. Event organizers remembered to keep mom in mind since the show takes place during their weekend.

“It is Mother’s Day weekend so we are promoting moms. The first 50 moms through the door get a free pin-on corsage and then we’re also going to do prize give-aways every hour on the hour for a total of 13 different prizes,” Allen said. “We’ve had a lot of local businesses donate those prizes so that was amazing to get the community so involved and we’ve got a lot of great prizes as well.”

Some of the door prizes include a circular saw, free oil changes, lawn and gardening equipment and a tanning package. You can learn more by visiting the Perry County Home and Garden Show’s Facebook page.
