The Perry County Job and Family Services Host Job and Career Fair

NEW LEXINGTON, OH – The Perry County Job and Family Services hosted a Job and Career Fair today for families who have been impacted by layoffs.

The job and career fair was held at the David C. Couch Connections Center and there were training providers on standby to answer any questions participants had.

Brooke Cannon, the Public Information Officer with the Perry County Job and Family Services, talked about why they hosted the job fair.

“We recently had a couple of employers in our County do some layoffs,” Cannon said. “We really wanted to take the opportunity to meet with those families and let them know all about the opportunities we have at JFS for them, as well as their spouses.”

Some of the training providers included Mid-East, Tri-County Career Center, C-Tec, Destiny Truck Driving Academy and Ohio University.

Cannon said she hoped the people who participated in the job and career fair today walked away excited for the future.

“Besides maybe a new job, the opportunity for new training,” Cannon said. “Hopefully they’re getting geared up for a career they want, and even taking away [some information] on the services that we have to offer for them.”

Cannon said they will be hosting a Career Fair on Monday, Jan. 29th, at the David C. Couch Connections Center.  If you are interested in attending, the Connections Center is located at 600 Senior Center Drive in New Lexington.
